Mission
The Ants in Your Plants Garden is a student led garden in Arroyo Vista Housing. We are a group of dedicated students who love being outdoors and seeing the wonderful plants and organisms that thrive in the garden. The primary mission of the garden is to provide UCI students an opportunity to learn about food systems through volunteering and workshops. It’s a student effort to fight food insecurity on campus and promote sustainable practices. In addition to educational and recreational uses, the garden grows produce to be donated to the FRESH Pantry at the UCI Basic Needs Center.

The Garden is supported in collaboration by ASUCI Garden Commission (IVP), UCI Housing, UCI Sustainability Resource Center (SRC), and the UCI Basic Needs Center.

The UCI Blum Center for Poverty Alleviation's mission is to promote social change and inspire the next generation of leaders to action with research on poverty alleviation.

By collaborating across disciplines with students, faculty and practitioners, the UCI Blum Center rigorously explores systemic, geopolitical, technological and climate forces affecting poverty. The UCI Blum Center's innovative education programs, basic and applied research, and work in community development and policy-making engage future leaders to reduce the risks of poverty for vulnerable populations and improve humanity and its institutions.

EarthReps is a student training and community building internship for undergraduate on-campus residents offering education, skills, and hands-on experiences broadly related to sustainability. EarthReps serve as sustainability ambassadors in student housing. The program aims to train emerging young leaders, expand campus awareness of sustainability, and build community among students, staff, and faculty. EarthReps receive training in substantive sustainability issues as well as skills for initiating essential conversations among peers, planning hall activities, and other community building approaches.

Global Connect is an original educational partnership developed by UCI's School of Social Sciences to enrich California's secondary school curriculum in international studies. This is accomplished by translating current university-level concepts and knowledge into a curriculum that is age appropriate for high school and middle school students. The global studies knowledge gap in our public schools is a critical problem that needs a flexible and immediate response. Students need lessons they can relate to as global citizens that will affect how they see themselves in the world. The study of worldwide issues through Global Connect establishes an environment that creates responsible global citizens and encourages young learners to pursue higher education. Global Connect builds a bridge to the world for our nation's secondary school students.

Eligibility:
o Applicants must have junior standing 90 - 134.9 units complete. Students can be an accelerated sophomore, junior, or transfer students at UC Irvine planning to graduate in June 2024 or later.
o Applicants must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 at UCI or from another college if the applicant is a transfer student.
o Must apply to FAFSA or DREAM Act and have an Expected Family Contribution of $10,000 or lower.

The TRIO Scholars Program at UCI – Student Success Initiatives – is a federally funded TRIO Program, awarded by the U.S Department of Education, that was established in 2015. Funded under Title IV of the Higher Education Act of 1965, Student Success Initiatives provides opportunities aimed at enhancing students' academic development, assisting students with their academic progress, and motivating students towards the successful completion of their post-secondary education. TRIO Scholars at UCI (SSI) is funded at $220,000+ annually. Housed within Student Success Initiatives in the Division of Undergraduate Education, TRIO Scholars offers approximately 140 participants academic, social, personal, and career advising and support from orientation until graduation. Participation is based on eligibility requirements.

The UC Irvine Spirit Squad consists of a co-ed cheer and dance team that represents the highest standard of collegiate spirit leaders. As a UC Irvine Spirit Squad member, you will be directly representing the University of California, Irvine, and UC Irvine Athletics.

The main objective of the UC Irvine Spirit Squad is to support all UC Irvine Division I intercollegiate athletic teams, with an emphasis on Men's and Women's Basketball, and serve as University ambassadors to the community. The mission of the Public Health Student Volunteer Core (PHSVC) is to serve our community partner organizations and the UCI campus to improve community health and well-being. The PHSVC is an organization aimed at mobilizing students for Public Health research and volunteer opportunities. PHSVC originated from Dean Bernadette Boden-Albala's student research group called the Social Epidemiology and Research in Community Health Lab. There are many community-based research projects and Public Health campus initiatives spearheaded by Dean Boden-Albala that are great opportunities for students who are interested in peer to peer health education, social epidemiology, cardio-metabolic disease prevention, health equity, community health, community-engagement, community-based participatory research and working with grass-roots community organizations.
