We hosted several film screenings and had our own booth at Celebrate UCI during the month of April!
In May, under the theme "Mom's and Monsters" we explored films such as The Brood (1979) and the Alien series that delved into how motherhood can have monsterous consequences.
June and July were our combo months in which we viewed a variety of films under the same genres: Dystopia and the Wasteland.
Titled "Dystopia: In the City Walls" in June, we watched films such as Logan's Run (1976), Westworld (1973), and Soylent Green (1973). We observed how this genre came to be and how it can be analyzed in our workshops and meetings.
In July, we moved to "Dystopia: Beyond the Walls/Into the Wasteland" in which we watched MadMax (1979), Waterworld (1995), Omega Man (1971), and The Bed Sitting Room (1969) while also analyzing the post-apocalyptic genre and discussing how it can be reinvented and applied.
