Workshop Recap

Hello Everyone!

Thank you to everyone who was able to make it to today's Internship and Job Strategies Workshop! We hope you were able to absorb some information to help you work towards your career goals.

In case you couldn't make it, here are a few key takeaways from Andrea Chung's presentation:

Research - When finding positions you'd like to go for, be intentional in your application, and explore different organizations in your field of interest. While working on a cover letter, resume, or preparing for an interview, be sure to do some further research on the organization's mission as well as the key traits they're looking for in a qualified individual.

Networking!Even if you aren't currently looking for a job, it's important to start building connections, especially with people in your field of interest. You can build more connections by interacting with people through social media (LinkedIn,Twitter, etc.), the Anteater Network, which allows you to chat with UCI Alumni, or even by setting up an informational interview with an organization you're interested in!

"Be PERSISTENT and PROACTIVE...it will pay off!" - Don't be discouraged when you can't immediately land a job. It may take some time to get that position you really want, and that's NORMAL! As long as you continue to actively search for openings, keep yourself accountable and stay positve, your hard work will pay off!

For more help, you can always check out UCI's Division of Career Pathways website, where you can access Job Resources and Resume/Cover Letter templates, schedule virtual career planning appointments, and even get practice for upcoming job interviews.
