The recent report released by Human Rights Watch on the criminalization of unhoused people in Los Angeles has brought renewed attention to the housing crisis in Southern California and local responses to the crisis, including in the wake of the Supreme Court’s decision in City of Grants Pass v. Johnson. Please join us on September 12th for a panel discussion with legal advocates on these issues. Panelists include the report’s author, John Raphling of Human Rights Watch, Faizah Malik of Public Counsel, and Brooke Weitzman of the ELDR Center. They will discuss the findings in the Human Rights Watch report, the challenges faced by houseless and housing insecure persons, and possible solutions. The panel will be moderated by Professor Adam Cowing.
