The UC Irvine Law Center for Land, Environment, and Natural Resources (CLEANR) brings together community leaders, researchers, agency staff, and members of the California State Legislature to consider the development of Climate Action Plans. Climate Action Plans are the primary means by which local governments formalize their strategies to reduce carbon emissions, adapt to hazards, and shore up community resilience in the face of climate hazards. We will consider challenges that communities and jurisdictions face when they take part in climate action planning. We will develop strategies to bridge the gap between state climate commitments and policies and local climate action. And we will discuss how best to support climate action plan revisions and general plan updates through community-academic partnerships and state support.
