The Italian program at UCI is one of the most rewarding and positive linguistic and cultural experiences imaginable. As dedicated and expert faculty, we are eager to offer dynamic courses in language, literature, culture and civilization, film, and history.
The Italian Program at the University of California, Irvine offers a minor in Italian Studies with courses both in Italian language from introductory to intermediate, and in English on a variety of literary and cultural subjects, such as Dante, Renaissance Theater, Holocaust literature, and contemporary migration. Taking an interdisciplinary approach, students study Italian culture through film, music, theater, history and literature. Beyond the Department of European Languages and Studies, Italian Studies students also take courses in history, art history, classics, and other areas.
