Winter Quarter: WRAP UP!
Hello Everyone!
Thank you to everyone who was able to drop into our study session today! And as the winter quarter comes to an end, we want to thank everyone who was able to attend any of our weekly meetings. We hope you were able to take away important information to guide you through your academic and career path.

Social Science Paper-Based Awards!
Check out these paper-based awards/scholarships available to declared majors within the School of Social Sciences!
- Alice B. Macy Outstanding Undergraduate Paper Award ($300) - This award recognizes a student for a paper that demonstrates original research. Open to undergraduate students in the School of Social Sciences.
- Charles A. Lave Paper Prize ($1,600) - The prize will be awarded to papers that display clear exposition of creative models (theories) and point to, or include, data that permit evaluation of the models. Open to undergraduate and graduate students in the School of Social Sciences.
- Social Sciences Outstanding Honors Thesis Award ($300) - This award recognizes a student for their outstanding undergraduate honors thesis. Open to current undergraduate students in a School of Social Sciences honors program.
- Black Lives Matter Research Scholarship ($100-500) - This scholarship will be awarded to research projects that examine issues related to Black lives and the understanding of Black experiences. Open to undergraduate students in the School of Social Sciences.
Deadline to apply is May 21, 2021.

Conte Center @ UCI’s 8th Annual Symposium
The Conte Center @ UCI is holding its eighth annual symposium next Tuesday (3/16) from 9:00 am to 1:30 pm. The Conte Center @ UCI focuses on how early-life experiences shape the brain and its effect on vulnerability to mental illness beginning at adolescence. Their annual symposium keynote speaker will be Dr. Kerry J. Ressler, a professor of psychiatry at Harvard, who will be speaking about mechanisms of fear, threat, and trauma memory encoding and their relevance for PTSD. Tune in from 9:00-10:15 to hear Dr. Ressler’s presentation, or see their virtual poster session from 10:30 - 11:30 am or their data blitz session from 12:00 - 1:30 pm. Register HERE!
