Hello everyone, and welcome to Week 5!

This is a reminder to RSVP for our big upcoming event, a Fireside Chat with a UCI Professor, happening TOMORROW (Feb 1) at 7:00 pm ONLINE! 

Interested in meeting UCI Cognitive Sciences Professors? Grab your blankets and hot chocolate to join our Fireside Chat with Professors! This is a wonderful opportunity to meet our amazing Cognitive Sciences faculty members: Professor Megan Peters and Professor Nadia Chernyak, in addition to graduate students working in their labs. 

Professor Megan Peters is the principal investigator of the Cognitive & Neural Computation Lab and received her Ph.D. in Computational Cognitive Neuroscience from UCLA. Her research aims to reveal how the brain performs adaptive computations based on noisy, incomplete information. To study these topics, Professor Peters uses neuroimaging, computational models, machine learning, and neural stimulation techniques. She is also President of the Neuromath Academy Organization, which is a three-week, online summer school on computational neuroscience. 

Professor Nadia Chernyak is the Lab Director of the Development of Social Cognition Lab at UCI. She received her BA and Ph.D. from Cornell University, and is interested in how we can use developmental data to better understand the cognitive building blocks of our understanding of equity, justice, fairness, equality, and social group cognition. Her work focused on cognitive and social predictors of our understanding of inequality has been sponsored by the National Science Foundation’s CAREER award.

CNLM Colloquium

Delve into the influences of sex, drugs, and aging on executive functions, such as decision-making, in an academic research conference presented by Dr. Barry Setlow, Ph.D. Professor of Psychiatry, from the University of Florida College of Medicine. The event will be held by the UCI Center for the Neurobiology of Learning and Memory on Tuesday, February 1 from 11:00am-12:00pm. Register here!

UC Davis Study Abroad Program

Interested in studying abroad? UC Davis has announced their study abroad program lineup for 2022, and it's open to all UCI students! Some of the programs that they will be offering include:

  • France - Intro to Biological Psychology (NEW)

    Courses: Psychology 101 & 198

    Apply principles of biology to the study of psychology, learning about the workings of the mind in humans and animals.

  • Italy - Science of the Mind

    Courses: Psychology 135 & 135

    Study Cognitive Neuroscience through the internationally known Department of Psychology at the University of Bologna in Italy

  • UK—Psychology in London

    Intern in the global metropolis of London with an individually tailored placement to work toward your career goals in psychology and social services.
