Hello Everyone!
Thank you to everyone who was able to make it to our first meeting of the winter quarter! In case you were unable to attend, here's some important information we discussed today:
What is the CSA?
The Cognitive Science Association is a student organization that aims to create a tight-knit community with those interested in cognitive science at UCI. Our mission is to introduce our members to various topics within cognitive science through guest speakers and discussions, and we encourage academic growth through professional development opportunities and workshops.
Advocating
The CSA can also support you in advocating for change within your major. If you feel there is something wrong or lacking in your major, the CSA can assist you in issuing formal complaints and setting up meetings with our advisor, Dr. Lee, and other significant staff. Last year, we were able to successfully advocate for the removal of the B minus minimum requirement for Cognitive Science majors. Please note, however, that the CSA board members will not "do your dirty work" and that you and your peers must be the ones spearheading the issue.
How to Get Involved
Looking for ways to get more involved within the CSA community? Apply for our board-led CSA committees! The CSA has a wide range of committees, each with different responsibilities that allow the CSA to connect and grow. For more information on each individual committee OR to apply to a committee, check out our CSA committee forms under "Surveys & Forms" in campusgroups (also linked below).
Remember to fill out our Interest Form, which allows us to adjust our meetings according to your subjects of interest! For more information on any of the topics above, or to ask any questions, feel free to email us at cogsciassoc@gmail.com.
