First Folio Friday with Andrea Mays

Join us for a lecture by author of The Millionaire and the Bard, Andrea Mays, and a performance by UCI theater students. Following the program, guests will have an opportunity to view UCI Libraries’ copy of the Shakespeare First Folio presented by Outreach and Public Services Librarian, Derek Quezada. This event is free, but registration is required.

11:15 a.m. Lecture and performance*
12:00 p.m. – Viewing of First Folio and lunch**

Learn more about the Shakespeare First Folio, a nearly 400-year-old bound collection of Shakespeare's plays, held in the UCI Libraries Special Collections & Archives.

Andrea Mays is a professor of economics at California State University, Long Beach. She is a native New Yorker with a lifelong Shakespeare obsession. Andrea spent much of her Manhattan girlhood in the New York Public Library listening to vinyl LP recordings of performances by the Royal Shakespeare Company. She is the author of The Millionaire and the Bard: Henry Folger’s Obsessive Hunt for Shakespeare’s First Folio.
