About Us

The mission of the Public Health Student Volunteer Core (PHSVC) is to serve our community partner organizations and the UCI campus to improve community health and well-being. The PHSVC is an organization aimed at mobilizing students for Public Health research and volunteer opportunities. PHSVC originated from Dean Bernadette Boden-Albala's student research group called the Social Epidemiology and Research in Community Health Lab. There are many community-based research projects and Public Health campus initiatives spearheaded by Dean Boden-Albala that are great opportunities for students who are interested in peer to peer health education, social epidemiology, cardio-metabolic disease prevention, health equity, community health, community-engagement, community-based participatory research and working with grass-roots community organizations.
