Details
Anne Lamott writes and speaks about subjects that begin with capital letters: Alcoholism, Motherhood, Jesus, Loss, Power, Truth, Enjoyment. But armed with self-effacing, laugh-out-loud humor, Lamott explores the mysteries of life with honesty and compassion, while keeping us laughing all along the way. During this moderated conversation, Anne Lamott will discuss her thoughts on how life is lived, the art of writing, and ideas from her most recent book, Dusk, Night, Dawn: On Revival and Courage.
Anne, an inductee into the California Hall of Fame, is the author of seven novels, several collections of autobiographical essays, and several bestselling books of nonfiction, including the classic book on writing: Bird by Bird: Some Instructions on Writing and Life. She has been honored with a Guggenheim Fellowship, and her biweekly Salon magazine “online diary,” Word by Word, was voted “The Best of the Web” by TIME magazine. Academy Award–winning filmmaker Freida Mock made a documentary on Lamott, entitled Bird by Bird with Annie (1999).
