Bread & Puppet is coming to UCI again! Don't miss the gigantic puppets, the old school bus, fun music, thought provoking performance, "cheap art," and their delicious rye bread with aioli!

Founded in 1963 by Peter Schumann, Bread & Puppet is one of the oldest, nonprofit, self-supporting theatrical companies in the country. Since 1970s, the company has been based in Vermont, where they live, build puppets and make art and theatre. They are making a rare cross-country tour with Our Domestic Resurrection Circus: Apocalypse Defiance this fall.

Our Domestic Resurrection Circus: Apocalypse Defiance was first performed 52 years ago. The show, says Schumann, is "in response to our totally unresurrected capitalist situation, not only the hundreds of thousands of unnecessarily sacrificed pandemic victims but our culture's unwillingness to recognize Mother Earth's revolt against our civilization. Since we earthlings do not live up to our earthling obligations, we need resurrection circuses to yell against our own stupidity."

The location for this outdoor event is the Meditation Garden, CTSA, (large lawn between Claire Trevor Theatre and Contemporary Arts) https://www.arts.uci.edu/sites/default/files/CTSA_Directions_2019.pdf
