For the first time in history, master musicians L. Shenkar and Rakesh Chaurasia, with Pandit Abhijit Banerjee, join forces on stage for an unforgettable concert experience. The evening will feature solo performances from Shenkar and Chaurasia, featuring elements of Hindustani and Carnatic music, and will culminate with a lively ensemble segment that will include original new music.

L. Shenkar is a violinist, vocalist, composer, producer and a founding member of the fusion super group, Shakti. He is considered a living legend and is the pioneering musician who created and designed the first ever 10-string stereophonic Double Violin which can cover the entire range of the orchestra: bass, cello, viola and violin. In addition to his many accolades, which include multiple Grammy nominations, Shenkar has collaborated with musicians of the highest caliber including John Mclaughlin, Ustad Zakir Hussain, Frank Zappa, Pete Townsend, George Harrison and Peter Gabriel, with whom he co-composed the soundtrack for Martin Scorsese’s film: The Last Temptation of Christ.

Rakesh Chaurasia is a 2023 Grammy Award winner and hails from a famous lineage of flute maestros (Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia). Chaurasia possesses a balance of strength and serenity, coupled with his training of swar and tala — critical factors for an exceptional bansuri flautist. Incorporating the tradition of his renowned uncle and infusing his personal style, he has evolved a style that maintains purity of the flute, irrespective of the genre he plays.

Pt. Abhijit Banerjee is a tabla master with a career spanning more three decades. He is recognized for his exceptional skills and versatility with a broad range of Indian classical music. His innate sense of rhythm, creativity, and impeccable technique have established him as valued collaborator with some of the world’s most renowned musicians in both Indian and western music.
