Terence Malick shot this film in natural light, using only the golden hour for filming. The film stars Sam Shephard, Richard Gere and Brooke Adams and is set in the Texas panhandle during the early 20th century. Gere and Adams are migrant workers who end up on Gere's farm. The love triangle that emerges is shaped by deception, betrayal and passion.
