Details

Kristina Wong is an LA based performance artist, comedian, writer, activist, and self-acclaimed “food bank influencer”! She is also a Doris Duke Artist Award winner, Guggenheim Fellow, and a Pulitzer Prize finalist in Drama. Her most representative works include Mad Hatter Gin and Tea Party, the viral web series How Not to Pick up Asian Chicks, and Radical Cram School, The Wong Street Journal, her long running show Wong Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, and Sweatshop Overlord. In 2022, Sweatshop Overlord was named the Pulitzer Finalist for Drama.

This Illuminations event will offer a taste of her new show "Kristina Wong, #FoodBankInfluencer," which will premiere in April 2025. We will learn about food insecurity and sustainability while watching a hilarious and enlightening short performance and slurping hot ramen!

The event will take place in the Demonstration Kitchen at the Anteater Recreation Center. Chef Daniel Baquerizo and team will provide you a hands-on experience in designing and assembling a delicious and sumptuous ramen meal. You will learn how to have a fancy meal with a budget of 3 dollars!

Please arrive 15 minutes early. We encourage you to bring your own chopsticks (and soup spoons, if you wish)!
