About Us

The mission of CaHPSA is to promote health equity across California by cultivating leadership and advocacy skills among all interested undergraduate students through education and community outreach that support comprehensive, high quality, accessible, guaranteed, and affordable health care for all in California. CaHPSA believes in health care as a human right and supports a more equitable and efficient healthcare system that prioritizes health over profit. Inadequate healthcare coverage as well as the increased cost of healthcare has led to health inequality affecting low income people as well as communities of color which CaHPSA hopes to address.

WHAT WE DO

PWC

CaHPSA gives members the opportunity to train to become Certified Enrollment Counselors. As CECs, students are trained to help individuals enroll in Medi-Cal and Covered California. As aspiring health professionals, CECs get first hand experience working with diverse populations, gaining insight into how social determinants of health affect a person's health status, and more!

Advocacy

At CaHPSA we believe that access to healthcare is a human right. Due to this, it is one of our main objectives to work towards advocating for this through different events and activities both within UCI and California in general.

Mentorship

The mentorship program is meant to connect upper classmen with entering students to build a network and community of lasting relations at and beyond UCI.
