Reframing Civil & Environmental Engineering at UCI - CEER
Become part of our vibrant community.
Become part of our vibrant community.
Mission Statement
The Reframing Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEER) Student Group at UCI is a coalition of undergraduate students, graduate students and postdocs from Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) working to promote Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) both within our department and the university as a whole.
Motivation
We formed this group because we sensed a gap in the discussion and education of social, environmental, political, and economic issues within the department's curriculum, and desire to ensure that the department's Diversity and Inclusion Committee is making progress toward shaping a school where students feel fully represented. We are committed to working with CEE Department leadership to achieve our goals. We strongly believe that moving towards racial justice and social equity is the responsibility of every civil and environmental engineer.
This group is open to all students and postdocs in the UCI CEE Department and we meet regularly to prepare for meetings of the department's Diversity and Inclusion Committee, work on environmental and social justice projects, and prepare for the CEE Social Justice Seminar. We welcome ALL CEE students to this space to share their experiences/thoughts and to accelerate change to better the UCI CEE department as a whole. We aim to especially amplify the voices of Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) students and students from other underrepresented groups at UCI.
We meet weekly on-campus and via Zoom during the academic year. Please email us at ceer@uci.edu to request the Zoom meeting information. You can join our Discord server by clicking here.
